The Sick Bench

I had a wonderful time this weekend with my family. Almost everyone was in for the holiday--and with 17 of us that's quite a few! I wasn't feeling very good at all after my samarium dose so spent most of the weekend sitting on the couch in my pj's with my heating pads. Everyone made sure to come over and spend some time with me though, and i even made it outside to my "sick bench" to watch the kids hunt for eggs. Last year when i first got sick and had to move in to my parent's new house i spent a lot of time sitting outside knitting on what is now dubbed the "sick bench". It's a nice spot and makes me feel like i've accomplished something when i can get myself out there to sit in the sun.

Most of today was spent in a huge traffic jam coming home from my doctor appointment in the city. I went in with my mom and sister to get my labs drawn-and yes, most of my tired moodiness can be blamed on the fact that i need some fresh blood to rev me up. I knew that i wasn't feeling quite myself. Even walking up the stairs takes so much out of me that i have to have a nap afterwards. So tomorrow-fresh blood! i'm really looking forward to it actually. It does wonders.

So today i'm working on my "something old", a baby blanket i have had sitting around forever. As i said before, i want to take something out of hibernation and finish it at the same time i'm working on something new--be it my new skill for the month or just a new project. I haven't quite decided on my skill for the month of April yet. At first i was thinking lace but quilting is also on my list and, because i couldn't make my last quilting class over the weekend, i figured i could push that skill into April. :)

Either way, i'm starting a lot of new projects and have a lot of ideas running around in my head! I was supposed to be on vacation in Scotland this week but cancer had other plans for me so i plan to keep my mind off of that sad fact by making a lot of beautiful things while i sit in good old PA.
